Banteay Meanchey is a Cambodian area in the northwest of the nation, and its capital is named Sisophon. The town of Sisophorn is today a beguiling, calm place that just offers clues to its turbulent past upon closer examination. Like Siem Reap and Battambang Provinces, control of the territory has changed hands commonly between the Thais and the Khmers in the more removed past, and the Khmer Rouge and focal Phnom Penh government in late decades. With the last end of the Khmer Rouge (local people, on the other hand, immovably trust the Present national compromise just the Khmer Rouge trap), the area and towns are endeavoring to revamp their way of life and economy.
It's agreeable spot with local people really cheerful to see remote appearances and the security that it suggests. Ordinarily only a going through spot while in transit to the fringe, or in the middle of Battambang and Siem Reap, the range has a couple sights that warrant a visit, such the Banteay Chhmar sanctuary ruins, the main other Khmer sanctuary ruins other than the Bayon (Angkor) and Preah Khan ( Preah Vihear Province ) that elements the renowned four-confronted landmarks.
This zone was a piece of the broad Khmer realm, with its most eminent remains the Banteay Chhmar sanctuary (manufactured in twelfth and thirteenth century) in the north of the area. In the seventeenth century the Siam took control over Cambodia, and made the range of the current area piece of Sisophon Province. In the year 1907 the Siam needed to surrender control to the French, and the territory was then included into Battambang Province. In 1988 the region Banteay Meanchey was split off from Battambang.
